Hardware RequirementsThere are no specific hardware requirements to run XAKTclaim. There are, however, software requirements, and you should optimize your hardware environment to support the needed software. In addition, you need to set up a recommended operating system that will handle adequate security to provide a basis for a HIPAA-compliant environment. There are three scenarios that need to be considered:
Single User or Multi-user Peer-to-Peer Requirements and Recommendations:(NOTE: fewer than 5 users)
Multi-user Client Server Requirements and Recommendations:(NOTE: this is the best configuration of XAKTclaim)
In general, you should make sure that all network connections are operating at 100 MBPS. For sites with no more than 6 to 10 users, consider using switches, instead of hubs, to segment the network. Remote systems are possible using WAN connections. Set up the XAKTclaim software to be loaded locally, referring to the database across the WAN. Make sure that all data file storage (reports, transaction imports, etc.) are local if possible, in order to conserve WAN bandwidth. Performance is excellent over a T1 line, cable or DSL with at least 256KB. An ISDN connection may be acceptable, depending on your performance requirements, and the type of activity. If you have ISDN or dial-up access only, you may want to consider using Terminal Services under Windows 2000 or other remote terminal capability. Plan on having a local network support person (not necessarily in-house, but readily available). XAKTsoft is not in a position to support complicated network setup remotely without local, knowledgeable assistance. |
